Great way to get your feet wet

I inherited a MakerBot Replicator 2X when I moved into a new classroom space, and this text has been a great way to get my feet wet with the nuts and bolts of getting the most out of the printer without simply relying on designs from Thingverse. There's a lot here that fits with the CMK/MakerEd ethos of being willing to take off the teacher hat and put on a learner hat. The "recipes," while prescriptive, are helpful in making me feel at ease working with an expensive piece of school purchased equipment. I'm glad my school's Director of Libraries got this book, and can see it being a great resource in the year ahead as our middle school's makerspace takes off.

A great guide to 3D printing

The Invent To Learn Guide to 3D Printing in the Classroom was a great overview of the different types of 3D printers, CAD programs and what they are capable of, types of plastics used and why and some great projects to try using the different CAD type programs. I found this very informative and a great launching pad into 3D printing.

I've been interested in learning 3D Printing, from design to production, since I first heard of this new emerging technology. I happened to be browsing Amazon and found this ebook available for free for a limited time so I went ahead and downloaded it. I'm happy I did because now I feel I have a better understanding about the 3D printing process and how simple it can be. The author makes it look easy to do so if I do decide to create my own 3D products in the future based on what I've learned from this book I will feel more comfortable applying that knowledge. The book includes lots of great tips and information that you should be aware of and websites where you can see what other people have created, tools needed, software needed to design your products, as well as how to choose a good 3D printer, if you're looking to purchase one. It is good, not just for the classroom, but for anyone wanting to learn 3D Printing design and production.

Found In Translation! At a Bargain!

I am a Zen student engaged in koan study. "Zen Antics" is a collection of stories that offer enjoyment and a some insight into ancient Zen culture. It is excellent for that purpose. Buy it and enjoy it.

However, the better deal is to buy "Classics of Buddhism and Zen, Volume 4: The Collected Translations of Thomas Cleary." It contains "Zen Antics" and ALL of the following classics for a lower price than this copy of Zen Antics alone.

(And yes, despite the doubts of one negative reviewer, Japanese men and the fearless women of Zen often made what might sound like ridiculing remarks our ears. But, let the stories tell themselves while you suspend the judgment that arises from our western culture. Sometimes what might sound to us like ridicule was actually the subtle recognition of one master by another.)

Zen Antics takes scholarly claptrap out of Buddhism

Zen Antics are 100 short stories about famous Zen Masters such as Hakuin, Bankei, and Shosan and the tricks and pranks they use to point directly at their students minds so that they might realize enlightenment. Also includes stories of wandering monks and the adventures they encountered on their journeys.
With stories like "The Drunken Buudha" and "Wiping a Buddha's Ass", these stories are anything but orthodox. Highly recommended.

Alfred F. Bracciano
Alfred Bracciano received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education with Certification in Vocational Education from Wayne State University in Michigan. He also earned a Masters degree in Secondary Education and a Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision.
Mr. Bracciano was employed as a teacher of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning for twelve years. He then became Director of Career and Technical Education for Warren Consolidated Schools in Warren, Michigan. He taught Community Resources Workshops for Michigan State University and presented at conferences throughout the country.
Mr. Bracciano is a life member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), and the American Technical Education Association (ATEA).
Daniel C. Bracciano
Dan Bracciano graduated from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career in HVACR at the Warren Schools Career Center, graduating in HVACR, and worked in the HVACR field performing air conditioning installations and domestic and commercial refrigeration, heating and air conditioning service.
Dan has 26 years of experience working in design development and manufacture of HVAC systems for General Motors, Mitsubishi Climate Control, and Alternative Energy Corporation. He holds several patents in the field, including a patent for a Modular Hermetic HVAC system. Dan is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS).
Gloria M. Bracciano
Gloria Bracciano received a Bachelor degree in Education, a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Education Specialist degree in Administrative Leadership. She completed coursework in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration through Oakland and Macomb Community Colleges.
Ms. Bracciano has worked in the field of education for over twenty-five years and has held positions as both university professor and administrator. Currently, she is the Provost of Gulliver Schools. Ms. Bracciano specializes in development and implementation of innovative curriculums and has presented at local, state, and national conferences.
Ms. Bracciano is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (ASHRAE), Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), and the American Technical Education Association (ATEA).

Ordered this for my husband & it's exactly what he needed. Saved $30+ over the college book store price.
Be sure to read the product description before ordering. Being offered is a hard cover book & workbook, at two different price points. When ordering online, I really rely on product reviews, and had I relied on previous reviews from folks that didn't look carefully at what they were ordering I wouldn't have made the purchase. Thankfully I read & felt comfortable knowing Amazon would stand behind their product had it not have been what I needed. Thanks Amazon!

I bought their earlier book and learned refrigeration from and passed my test without going to school. I gave my copy to a younger guy hoping he will do the same as I did...I didn't want to be without a copy, so I bought the newer edition which has some of the newer refrigerants in it.
