Carin falls in love with Peter and then finds out that he is a high-ranking officer in the SS. He confesses his love for her and asks her to wait for him until after the war. As a Christian, she knows that the relationship must end. Standing by while the horrific events unfold around her does not sit well with Carin's conscience, but why get involved when Germany is not her country? She is a Christian, not a Jew. And what can one person do? Will she join the Resistance, knowing the risks?

Pat Miller is a former State Representative in Colorado and is well known in the political arena. She has previously authored four books. She and her husband, Lynn, live in an airpark near Denver. She is a proud mother and grandmother.

Thought provoking and emotional

This book is based on the facts that changed the lives and lifestyles of the German people as Hitler led them into WWII, some blindly, some willfully allowing the changes. I found myself living in the mind and heart of a young American girl trapped there, finding herself engulfed in the conflict of her emotions and Christian values as she watched the changes in people she loved. I could see many correlations to what's happening in America today and it made me examine my own strengths and weaknesses and how prepared I am as a Christian to deal with the same controversies and changes. What would I do in a similar situation?. I loved the book and was immersed immediately and couldn't put it down.

A Must Read

I truly enjoyed reading this book. It is one of the best and well written books depicting this era. The book has suspense, romance
and tells the story of a young woman out of her element doing wonderful human acts of kindness. Strong in her christian beliefs, it truly is an inspiration to be shared.
